WASHINGTON'S OTHER INTERNS
What does it take to be a PETA intern? Showering on the sidewalk at a busy intersection when discussing the green economics of going vegan {Clean your conscience: 1 lb meat = 2,463 gallons of water}, or handing out Vegetarian Starter Kits to passersby, or lying on the street wrapped in cellophane just as meat is packaged. PETA interns are bringing the message home to the public that factory farming is animal cruelty. A vegan lifestyle is better for the animals, the environment, and us.>more

PETA's MERMAIDS, MERMEN WILL RETURN TO PROTEST FISH TOSS
Last month, PETA made it known that it wasn't happy with the American Veterinary Medicine Association's decision to hold a Pike Place Market-imitating fish toss at the Seattle AVMA convention. NO FLIES ON PETA
I thought it awfully strange that People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) was weighing in on President Obama's fly-swat (the headline on website TMZ: "PETA Swats at Obama for Killing That Fly!"), so I emailed PETA spokesman Bruce Friedrich this morning to ask why he was devaluing his currency on such nonsense. Shocking, I know, but it seems his remarks were taken out of context for the sake of a better, if ridiculous, story.>more
