CHILD AND FAMILY CENTER LOBSTER BENEFIT DINNER TARGETED BYPETA
PETA set their sights on the Tucson Child and Family Resource lobster dinner benefit. CFR has agreed to use a "stun" device to effectively make the live lobsters brain-dead prior to cooking. The device, developed by Simon Buckhaven, knocks the lobster unconscious within half a second by running an electrical current through it's brain, the current continues for several seconds destroying the nervous system of the lobster, and will be provided by PETA at no cost to CFR. Critics to the existing adopted processes of cooking lobsters state that a lobster boiled alive struggles for between two to three minutes before dying. >more

PETA: CALIFORNIA COWS NOT HAPPY
PETA renewed its campaign against the "happy cows" promotions by the California Milk Advisory Board. PETA's complaint to the Federal Trade Commission claimed the Modesto-based board misleads consumers by depicting cows in lush pastures. The group said the cows live mostly in manure-filled dirt lots and suffer udder infections because of a lack of veterinary care. >more
