Does anybody know something about chanel/Bourjois? i am sure i saw Chanel on cruelty-free list some time ago and now i can't find it anywhere.. i am in love with bourjois and chanel, but if they are testing the relationship is over!

Kathy, I think it's China law to test on animals IF that product is to be sold... IN CHINA. I was researching Mary Kay Cosmetics just a few days ago and that was basically what I got from why they went to a does not test list to does test.

I also love E.L.F. The products are so affordable and wearable. I recently bought the chubby lip pencil. The color is great and long-lasting, and bonus: it smells/tastes like root beer. Salma Hayek's Nuance line is also very good and claims not to test on animals. I am waiting to see if PETA verifies this claim.

E.L.F. liquid eyeliner for $1. I tried it, thinking liquid liner would be a challenge to use, and now I LOVE it!!! I'll never go back.

ARBONNE is a vegan product, they use absolutely NO animal by-products nor have they ever ever ever tested on animals. It is also free of a ton of other harmful ingredients often found in skincare/cosmetic items. You can only get it in the states, canada, australia and UK and is ordered online but let me tell ya it is WELL worth it and it is the best vegan product I have ever used on my skin hands down. They also have numerous other products like cosmetics, shampoo/conditioner, soaps, protein supplements etc...

Just cause a company doesn't test on animals, doesn't make them cruelty free. Check the ingredients and you will see beeswax, carmine etc. These products aren't vegan!! Also they are crap with mineral oil (refined crude oil) being the first ingredient in most of the lip products, parabens and other chemicals. You get what you pay for and most drug store cosmetic are garbage!!

I prefer natural cosmetics but can't always afford them. An elegant drugstore brand, available in Canada (not sure about elswehere) is Marcelle...they make effective facial care products and sophisticated, stylish makeup as well. For body care, including deodorant, I buy Nivea. I used to purchase Revlon until I recently learned they began manufacturing in China where animal testing is mandatory. I have thus stopped buying Almay which is owned by Revlon. On the higher price end I like Benefit, fun packaging and great quality if you can spend more. On the cheaper end Annabelle offers a full range of makeup, including some really dazzling colors especially suited for nighttime looks. Especially when it comes to eye makeup, which you have to toss every 3 months, it's a cost effective brand and a way to stock up on shades without breaking the bank. They even make a non-comedogenic, paraben free BB cream with SPF 15..wow! And when I can't afford my cherished Badger lip balms I go for Bonne Bell lipsmackers. I mean who could resist an animal-friendly lip moisturizer that tastes and smells like Coca-cola?!
