• Meredith Vieira Joins Bill Clinton's Club

Just two months after telling Ellen DeGeneres, "I want to be a vegan," Meredith Vieira has done it. After seeing her Ellen appearance, PETA rushed Meredith a copy of Sir Paul McCartney's slaughterhouse exposé Glass Walls, a vegetarian/vegan starter kit, and Tal Ronnen's The Conscious Cook to help her along. On The Chew, she told chef Mario Batali about why she made the switch: "I've done a lot of stories on the way food is, you know, processed in this country—animals—and it's very disturbing."

CNBC's Jim Cramer isn't just mad about money—now he's gone mad for vegetarian cuisine. In the wake of the "pink slime" debacle, Cramer announced on Squawk on the Street that he is going vegetarian, just like his doctor and his daughter.

There will soon be less to see of Seattle Seahawk Deuce Lutui. He went vegan to lose weight and improve his performance in the coming season.

Sexiest Vegetarian alum Leona Lewis finds the song formerly called "Theraflu" by the tool currently called "Kanye West" "awful." She tweeted, "Heard that awful Kanye W song talking about minx dragging on the floor. What an awful thing to be proud of! I take all my love for him back!" She then tweeted a picture of an adorable mink and the words "Lil minx <3."

Leona's celeb pals joined her in sticking up for animals on Twitter this week:

After learning about Walter, a severely abused dog who was starved and then thrown out of the window of a moving car, Ashley Judd is picking up the tab for his medical expenses, visiting him every day, and updating her Twitter followers on his condition. "This never should have happened to Walter, and through his story, we can make sure that it never happens to another animal again," she said.

Rock legend Morrissey wants to help make sure that no more sheep are mutilated in a cruel process called "mulesing." While touring in Japan, Moz reached out to Tokyo-based international clothier Uniqlo and asked the company to stop sourcing wool from Australian farmers who still mules sheep.

Here's one thing that dog and cat people can agree on: Jennifer Aniston and Jay Leno's conversation on The Tonight Show about their rescued animals and the importance of adoption was the bee's knees.

You can catch fellow adoption advocate Carrie Ann Inaba on both the tube and YouTube when she launches her Web show, Crib Cat, which will feature cats who are up for adoption. We're sure she'll play fair and not give special consideration to PETA pal Martina Navratilova on this season of Dancing With the Stars.

Carrie Ann is also using Twitter to encourage people to save animals' lives. Here's what she and other celebs are buzzing about:

Dave Navarro recently asked his Twitter followers to make donations for a new mobile SNIP clinic for PETA. Watch for the inked, never minked, celebrity on Spike's new season of Ink Master.

When Meredith Vieira stopped by Ellen, she said she was interested in going vegan—and scored herself a "Glass Walls" DVD, a cookbook, and some other animal-friendly loot from PETA.

PETA also sent vegetarian GZA of the Wu-Tang Clan an on-tour care package that included PETA's Vegan College Cookbook and a list of vegetarian restaurants in the cities that he and the band are hitting.

Brit band The Wanted has crept up to number two on the U.S. iTunes charts, and singer Jay McGuiness crept up to number one on PETA U.K.'s Sexiest Vegetarian poll last year.

The smart money is on Timothy Bradley Jr. to come out number one in his upcoming fight against Manny Pacquiao. The boxer is training vegan to get in prime sparring shape.

BURBANK, CA - MAY 15: Television host Meredith Vieira attends the Disney and ABC Television Group Summer press junket at ABC on May 15, 2010 in Burbank, California. (Photo by Frederick M. Brown/Getty Images)

This morning’s Today show featured a story about the latest fad dog breed in China—and the astronomical prices people are willing to pay for the dogs—up to $600,000 in some cases. As he was introducing the story, Today host Matt Lauer asked co-host Meredith Vieira how much she would be willing to pay for a dog. “I like to get them from the pound, actually,” she replied.

That’s right! You can’t put a price tag on unconditional love—or on the great feeling you get from saving a life.
