• Honey Badger DOES Care: See Randall's New Video for PETA

    Written by Michelle Kretzer

After he heard about the deadly experiments that the University of Wisconsin–Madison is performing on catsRandall made a video against it that is so convincing that it could make even the honey badger care

Randall's buddy Bret Lockett of the New York Jets gave animals an awesome shout-out, too, during an interview with Integral Yoga Magazine:

I don't believe in torturing animals. I've been doing a lot of research and found out about a lot I didn't know, so I joined PETA's 'Ink, Not Mink' ad series urging others to show off their unique tattoos rather than wearing fur. Having played football in New England, where winters are harsh, I knew firsthand that there was no excuse—not even weather extremes—for wearing fur and that there are plenty of other fashionable, warm materials to wear that weren't made by harming animals. I challenged my fans to watch PETA's undercover video footage of fur farms, just like I did. I wanted everyone to know that, for every fur coat, collar or piece of trim, millions of foxes, minks, coyotes, rabbits and even cats and dogs were violently killed with wire nooses. Many of these animals are even skinned alive. The only way to combat this cruelty is by never buying or wearing fur or fur trim.

Bret would likely be pleased with Glamour UK's pick for the best-dressed celebrity: Fervently fur-free Kristen Stewart tops the magazine's list for the second year in a row.

And Perez Hilton graced us with a gallery of the best-undressed celebs: 30 of PETA's hottest nude anti-fur ads

In the same spirit, here's our gallery of the best celebrity tweets of the week:

Pamela Anderson probably gets asked out via Twitter and other means every day. But she's offering to take a certain fellow out to dinner. Who's the lucky guy? Philippine President Benigno Aquino III. Pam wants to talk to the bachelor president about helping to get Mali, the 39-year-old ailing elephant who is alone in the Manila Zoo, transferred to a sanctuary in Thailand.

Fellow screen icon and animal rights campaigner Brigitte Bardot is making another man an offer he shouldn't refuse. Brigitte joined PETA UK's campaign to get British retailer Fortnum & Mason to stop selling vile foie gras, with a letter to the store's managing director, Ewan Venters, that said, in part, "Tradition is never an excuse for animal cruelty."

You would probably never catch Vanessa Hudgens eating foie gras, but you would catch her grabbing lunch at North Hollywood's Lotus Vegan restaurant.

  • Miley Cyrus, Breakout Vegan?

    Written by Michelle Kretzer

Miley Cyrus might be ditching dairy products, and we're nodding our heads like "Yeah!"

It all started when Mileybird tweeted, "Worst tummy ache ever. No more lactose for me." We quickly responded to tell Miley that she wasn't alone and that she should be proud to be dairy-free. We included a link to information on delicious dairy-free milks and a link to one of our undercover investigations of a dairy farm, and Miley responded, "[O]h my god those photos make me feel even more sick. HAS GOT TO STOP!" Then she retweeted our action alert asking Walmart to ban its suppliers from cruelly confining pigs to gestation crates. If Miley wants help planning a vegan wedding, her friends here are happy to help …

It looks like there's a vegan baby shower in Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard's future. The cruelty-free couple is expecting their first child, and PETA sent Kristen what might be her first gift: a copy of  Skinny Bitch: Bun in the Oven

There might be a new baby in Kristen Stewart's future as well. She and boyfriend Robert Pattinson are reportedly thinking about rescuing another dog

Rescued dogs are always the rage on Twitter, like Krysten Ritter's little guy, Mikey.

And it's a battle of the accents for our favorite gal this week:

French beauty Marion Cotillard and SeaWorld are never, ever, ever getting back together. The actor plays a marine park trainer in the controversial new film Rust and Bone, and she says that seeing marine mammals in captivity made her believe that they deserve better. "I'd rather see whales in their own environment and not in a swimming pool," she said. "I will never go back to a SeaWorld."

Irish-bred Hollywood legend Anjelica Huston told O Magazine that she enjoys working with PETA because "I think we have to pay more attention to how we treat animals: the great apes trained for our entertainment, carriage horses left outside in intense heat and cold, polar bears confined in zoos. Animals can't talk, so it's up to us to speak for them."

Aussie actor and vegetarian Sophie Monk is designing a diamond jewelry collection and plans to donate 10 percent of the proceeds to help PETA save animals.

And everyone's favorite animal-friendly designer, Stella McCartney, is the Brits' favorite designer, too: She was named British Designer of the Year, proving that compassion is always in fashion and never has to include skins stolen from animals.

  • More 'Twilight' Stars Sparkle for Animals

    Written by PETA

There are just two weeks to go until audiences see Kristen Stewart finally become a vampire in The Twilight Saga: Breaking DawnPart I, but last night, K-Stew told Jay Leno that even the bloodless aren't heartless—she would never wear real fur.

Leno showed what appeared to be a furry image from Kristen's W magazine photo shoot that left her fans asking a big "W": Why would she wear that? But Kristen was anxious to put the rumors to rest, saying, "That's not fur—I would never wear fur. … [People said] 'nobody does that [wear fur] anymore and look, she's willing to.' No, I'm actually not, so let's just clear that one up."

Seems like the out-of-touch designers who still use fur are having a harder and harder time finding anyone willing to wear butchered bunnies. It's obvious that stolen skin is out and sparkly skin is in.

Before you head out to reserve your tickets for opening night, check out how Twilight stars Kellan Lutz, Christian Serratos, and Robert Pattinson are shining for animals too.

  • Joan Jett Finds Flaw in 'Twilight' Star's Impersonation

    Written by PETA

NEW YORK - APRIL 05: Musician Joan Jett attends the 8th annual 'Dressed To Kilt' Charity Fashion Show presented by Glenfiddich at M2 Ultra Lounge on April 5, 2010 in New York City. (Photo by Andrew H. Walker/Getty Images)

Joan Jett, our co-favorite legendary rock goddess (seriously, don't even try to make us choose between Joan and Chrissie), was notably impressed with Twilight star Kristen Stewart's portrayal of her in The Runaways, which chronicled Jett's early career with a pioneering grrl-rock band.

However, in her audio commentary on the DVD release of the movie, Joan does point out one faux pas—although it should be noted that the movie's costumer was to blame:

"To me this is kind of strange," says Jett as Stewart is shown running along a street, "because I never wore leather pants."

With all the post-Twilight buzz, movie critics are all over the news that Kristen Stewart (along with costar Dakota Fanning) has taken on a leading role in a new film, The Runaways, about iconic female rock star—and vegetarian extraordinaire—Joan Jett.

As the executive producer, Joan has been closely involved in the making of the movie. But we know that she never lets her busy schedule interrupt her dedication to animals. While recording her most recent album, she recorded a "veggie testimonial" for PETA, and now she's found time to visit some sanctuary friends.

We're sure that a movie about this trailblazing rocker will be a hit with both animal and music lovers alike. Now, turn up "I Love Rock 'n' Roll" on your stereo and leave a comment below to let us know which other animal rights icons' lives would make for an inspiring movie.

  • 'Win It' Wednesday: Kitty Castles

    Written by PETA

Thanks for all of your wonderful comments on this Win It Wednesday. The winners of the Kitty Castles are aMY, Heather, Nadine L., Karin, and Tara. Congratulations!

I've never quite understood it when people talk about the cats they "own." Anyone with a feline companion knows that we don't own cats—they own us. As soon as they enter our homes, they become our kings and queens and we their devoted subjects.

What could be a more appropriate abode for kitty royalty than a Kitty Castle? A Kitty Castle is a playhouse that Princess Fluffy can retire to after she's done taking over your house. It's the perfect size for playing or sleeping, and it's fun for the kids (or you) to decorate (with her majesty's permission, of course). This week, we've got five of them to give away!

    Kitty Castle

How do you win? Tell us why your feline friend deserves to be pampered. The five most touching comments will take home a Kitty Castle and a few other treats.

The contest ends on July 8, 2009, and we'll choose five comments as the winners on July 10, 2009. Be sure to read our privacy policy and terms and conditions, as you're agreeing to both by commenting. Check back every Wednesday for new prizes. Good luck!
