Easy Spring Outreach Ideas

Spring is here, and now that the weather is warming up, it’s an ideal time for taking your activism for animals outdoors. Remember: Animals abused in factory farms, circuses, and the “pet” trade need your help! Here are some easy things that you can do to help animals this spring.

Put Your Passion Into Projects

Spring is the perfect time to organize a pro-vegetarian table at a local festival or in a busy downtown area. People are starting to think about shaping up for summer, so now is a great time to let them know about the multitude of benefits (for both humans and animals) that a vegetarian lifestyle provides! It’s amazing how many people you can reach—and how many minds you can change—just by setting up an information table. Visit GoVeg.com for inspiration and tips. Need help? Contact a PETA activist liaison. Also, be sure to check out our "Activist Guide to Tabling."

Demonstrate Your Compassion

Spread the word that circuses are no fun for animals! When you find out that an animal circus is coming to town, it’s always a good idea to leaflet in a busy downtown area before opening night in order to discourage people from buying tickets. Another option is to organize an opening-night demonstration outside the circus venue. If you want to go one step further, begin working toward a ban on animal acts in your city. You can check out our step-by-step guide for all the information that you’ll need to get started. For assistance on any of these projects, please contact a PETA activist liaison. Visit Circuses.com for more information about what you can do to help animals in circuses.

'Write' Animal Wrongs

Reach millions of people by writing letters to the editors of your local newspapers about local animal issues. Remind readers that we are in the midst of an overpopulation crisis and that the best thing they can do to help end this crisis is to spay and neuter their animal companions and adopt animals from shelters instead of buying them from a breeder or a "pet" store. Check out PETA's "Guide to Letter-Writing" for tips. For more ideas on how you can help animal companions, please visit HelpingAnimals.com.
