Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Do you have offices in other states that I could work in?
A: No, not at this time. Unless otherwise stated, all positions are located at our Norfolk, Virginia, headquarters. Please visit the Job Openings List regularly to view our latest job opportunities.

Q: Does PETA/FSAP offer telecommuting (work from home) career opportunities?
A: Unfortunately, we do not offer telecommuting opportunities at this time.

Q: I don’t live in Virginia. How can I get active with PETA?
A: Thank you for offering to volunteer your services. PETA does not have branch offices, but you can start getting active for animals immediately, including by forming a local animal rights group or joining PETA’s Activist Network at AnimalActivist.com. That Web site also contains lots of resources for grassroots activists, including ways to contact our activist liaisons, who can help you in your local efforts.

Q: What are the requirements to work for PETA/FSAP?
A: Requirements to work for PETA/FSAP vary by position. It is best to visit the Job Openings List, select the position that is of interest to you, and view its list of job requirements and responsibilities.

Q: Do I have to be a U.S. citizen to work for PETA/FSAP?
A: In order to work for PETA/FSAP, you need to be a U.S. citizen or have a work permit authorizing you to work in the United States. We cannot assist you in obtaining a United States work permit. You must obtain a permit independently.

Q: Do you have any part-time positions?
A: At this time, we do not have any part-time opportunities. Please visit the Job Openings List regularly to view our latest job opportunities.

Q: Do you have to be vegetarian or vegan to work for PETA/FSAP?
A: Some of our positions do require you to be vegan (e.g., all campaign positions, fundraising and development positions, and media spokesperson positions). However, many positions do not require this. We look for compassionate people to work here.

Q: How do I apply for a job?
A: To apply for a position with PETA/FSAP, please view the job description for the position you are interested in and click "Apply Now" at the bottom of the page. You will be directed to an online application. Please complete all the fields, and either attach or paste your cover letter and résumé into the application.

If you are unable to complete the online application, please e-mail your cover letter and résumé to JobOpenings@peta.org or mail your résumé to Attn: Human Resources, 501 Front St., Norfolk, VA 23510.

Q: Should I expect to receive personal contact when I apply for a job?
A: Unfortunately, because of the volume of résumés we receive, we are unable to contact each applicant personally. However, you will receive an e-mail confirmation once your online application has been received. In the event that we wish to consider you for a position, we will contact you directly via e-mail or telephone.

Q: How can I check the status of my résumé?
A: To check the status of your résumé, please e-mail JobOpenings@fsap.org. In the subject line of your message, include your full name, the position applied for, and the date that your résumé was sent. You will receive a reply with the status of your résumé within two business days.

Q: Once I have completed the interview process, when can I expect to hear whether or not I have been offered the job?
A: You will receive our decision within 10 business days of your interview.

Q: Does PETA/FSAP pay relocation costs for new employees?
A: No, we do not pay relocation costs. However, if space permits, we do offer all relocating staff members up to three weeks of temporary housing in one of our guest houses.
