Youth Outreach Assistant

Position Objectives:

To assist with peta2's efforts to encourage youth involvement with the program, and to brand the program at concerts, festivals, and other youth-focused events

Term of Employment:

Full-time

Reports to:

Manager of Youth Outreach

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Assist with logistics for all Youth Outreach events, programs, and campaigns
  • Assist with the selection, development, production, and execution of all Youth Outreach campaigns and program materials, including, but not limited to, literature, outreach supplies, and online promotional tools
  • Perform a variety of research to assist with peta2 projects
  • Maintain lists of current peta2 tabling opportunities
  • Assist with writing Web features related to peta2 campaigns
  • Liaise with Youth Marketing staff for celebrity involvement in, corporate partnerships with, and marketing of campaigns
  • Liaise with Youth Campaigns staff to generate Street Team involvement in campaigns
  • Develop relationships with and supply Youth Outreach promotional materials to local youth retailers who are willing to distribute peta2 program materials
  • Attend Youth Outreach Department meetings, as needed
  • Travel extensively to perform duties
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications:

  • High school education or higher
  • Previous experience working in an office environment
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office programs
  • Thorough knowledge of current Internet trends (e.g., MySpace, YouTube) required
  • Thorough knowledge of youth (13-21) culture required
  • Thorough knowledge of animal rights issues required
  • Ability to travel extensively
  • Must have a valid driver's license with three years' clean driving record
  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Ability to communicate with a variety of people in a personable and outgoing manner
  • Previous activist experience preferred
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Commitment to the objectives of the organization
