Assistant to the Director (PETA Asia-Pacific)

Position Objective:

To provide a wide range of support to the director and assist him with projects, general tasks, and day-to-day operations. This position is based in Manila.

Term of Employment:

Full-time

Reports to:

Director of PETA Asia-Pacific

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Communicate on behalf of the director regarding campaigns and celebrity involvement
  • Respond to voice-mail and e-mail inquiries in the director's absence, while exercising good judgment and confidentiality
  • Maintain contact lists, files, and databases (including celebrity and photo-shoot databases)
  • Maintain PETA Asia-Pacific's standard operating procedures
  • Coordinate travel arrangements
  • Organize news conferences and social events with the help of the campaign coordinator
  • Help coordinate special events, including celebrity photo shoots and tapings, using discretion and independent judgment
  • Assist with the general activities of PETA Asia-Pacific
  • Help coordinate celebrity-outreach efforts through activities, such as conducting research, drafting letters, and making follow-up calls
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the director

Qualifications:

  • Exceptional writing abilities, especially in composing and editing letters
  • Ability to make sound judgments and work independently
  • Ability to deal with a wide range of people in a professional manner
  • Diplomacy, friendliness, and patience
  • Ability to take initiative and follow through
  • Proven strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Proven ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Exceptional oral communication skills in English and preferably in other Asian languages as well
  • Thorough knowledge of animal rights issues and campaigns
  • Supportive position vis-à-vis PETA Asia-Pacific's philosophy and the ability to professionally advocate PETA Asia-Pacific's positions on issues
  • Commitment to the objectives of the organization
