Online Community Coordinator

Position Objective:

To foster a community on PETA’s Web site and other popular social networking Web sites.

Term of Employment:

Full-time

Reports to:

Marketing Manager

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Assist with the coordination of PETA’s official MySpace page and other PETA MySpace initiatives
  • Maintain PETA’s official Facebook page and oversee initiatives on Facebook (i.e. the creation of social applications)
  • Maintain PETA’s accounts on video sharing sites such as YouTube
  • Maintain PETA’s account on various Web 2.0 sites such as Flickr, Twitter, Digg, and Gather
  • Moderate PETA’s message boards
  • Coordinate PETA’s Podcast
  • Research new Internet technologies and develop appropriate marketing plans
  • Track and analyze Web traffic and the success of online campaigns
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Marketing Manager

Qualifications:

  • College degree in a related field or several years of equivalent experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong working knowledge of the Internet
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as with others
  • Proficient computer skills in Word and Excel
  • Knowledge of animal rights issues and campaigns
  • Commitment to the objectives of the organization
