Administrative Assistant

Position Objective:

To support members of the Media Campaigns Department in their administrative needs

Term of Employment:

Full-time

Reports to:

Executive Assistant to the Senior Vice President

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Coordinate travel for the Media Campaigns Department
  • Serve as payroll liaison for the Media Campaigns Department
  • Submit financial reports and check requests for the Media Campaigns Department and the New York City office
  • Submit departmental requests for Media Campaigns Department projects
  • Maintain and update media lists and databases
  • Schedule department meetings, maintain agendas, and take meeting notes
  • Arrange staff meeting presentations for the Media Campaigns Department
  • Order supplies and equipment for the New York City office
  • Assist with the coordination of photo shoots, demonstrations, and special events
  • Perform research and other duties, as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Proven strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional manner
  • Ability to take initiative and follow through
  • Good writing skills
  • Ability to make sound judgments and work independently
  • Proven ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Exceptional oral communication skills
  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft programs, including Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint
  • Thorough knowledge of animal rights issues and campaigns
  • Supportive position vis-à-vis PETA's philosophy and the ability to professionally advocate PETA's positions on issues
