Editor
Position Objective:
To edit organizational publications, including written materials, Internet content, and video and DVD text
Term of Employment:
Full-time
Reports to:
Senior Director of the Library
Primary Responsibilities and Duties:
- Edit organizational publications
- Edit internal written materials created by the organization's staff
- Edit news releases, correspondence, and other public communications of the organization
- Edit the written content of the organization's Web sites
- Edit text for the organization's videos and DVDs
- Perform other editorial functions assigned by the Library director
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in a course of study requiring extensive writing and editing skills (e.g., English, journalism, philosophy, history, law)
- Excellent knowledge of English grammar
- Excellent knowledge of professional, technical, or legal terminology and writing conventions
- Minimum of two years of practical editing experience in a relevant field
- Exemplary attention to detail
- Ability to apply knowledge and experience in a time-pressured, deadline-intensive environment
- Commitment to the objectives of the organization
