Editor

Position Objective:

To edit organizational publications, including written materials, Internet content, and video and DVD text

Term of Employment:

Full-time

Reports to:

Senior Director of the Library

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Edit organizational publications
  • Edit internal written materials created by the organization's staff
  • Edit news releases, correspondence, and other public communications of the organization
  • Edit the written content of the organization's Web sites
  • Edit text for the organization's videos and DVDs
  • Perform other editorial functions assigned by the Library director

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a course of study requiring extensive writing and editing skills (e.g., English, journalism, philosophy, history, law)
  • Excellent knowledge of English grammar
  • Excellent knowledge of professional, technical, or legal terminology and writing conventions
  • Minimum of two years of practical editing experience in a relevant field
  • Exemplary attention to detail
  • Ability to apply knowledge and experience in a time-pressured, deadline-intensive environment
  • Commitment to the objectives of the organization
