Position Objective:
To reach out to and educate the public about animal rights by coordinating and staffing PETA's Animal Liberation Project (ALP) educational display at the National Mall in Washington, D.C.
Term of Employment:Temporary
Reports to:
Assistant Director of Campaigns
Primary Responsibilities and Duties:
- Staff the ALP display at the National Mall to introduce the campaign to the public
- Create a network of animal activists in Washington, D.C., focusing primarily on recruiting activists to staff the display
- Contact activists and potential activists in areas where PETA will be taking the ALP to encourage them to visit the display
- Coordinate the production of promotional materials for the display
- Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor
Qualifications:
- Background and experience in activism
- Outgoing, energetic, and personable manner
- Ability to communicate with a variety of people
- Thorough knowledge of animal rights issues
- Proven ability to work independently
- Excellent organizational skills
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Must have a valid driver's license with three years' clean driving record
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Supportive position vis-à-vis PETA's philosophy and ability to professionally advocate PETA's positions on issues
