Campaigner

Position Objective:

To manage and coordinate PETA’s many cutting-edge campaigns and work with activists across the country in order to bring attention to animal rights issues

Term of Employment:

Full-time

Reports to:

Assistant Director of Campaigns

Primary Job Duties:

  • Develop and manage cutting-edge campaigns against companies and industries that abuse animals
  • Organize and attend street-theater-style protests worldwide
  • Work with PETA’s Marketing Department to create attention-grabbing viral videos, Web sites, and other interactive online campaigns in order to increase awareness of animal rights issues
  • Work with PETA’s Production Department to create provocative ad campaigns and other materials that further animal rights or push companies to change
  • Work with PETA’s Communications Department to generate media coverage of our efforts through protests, celebrity support, and more
  • Work with PETA affiliates in Europe, India, and Asia-Pacific to generate international support for our campaigns
  • Act as a PETA spokesperson by conducting interviews with local and national television outlets, radio stations, newspapers, and magazines

Qualifications:

  • Degree in a related field or equivalent experience required
  • Passion for fighting cruelty to animals and a commitment to PETA’s objectives
  • Desire and willingness to participate in provocative campaigns
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Outgoing and personable manner
  • Ability and willingness to travel extensively
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to multitask
  • Thorough knowledge of animal rights issues preferred
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with three years’ clean driving record
  • Must be at least 21 years old
