Position Objective:
To oversee and coordinate all aspects of and changes to data and data elements within PETA's applications/databases to provide impact analyses for proposed changes to data models and reports

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:
- Manage the data development staff members
- Provide support and data-request response as well as customer service and user support to all users' data requirements
- Develop, implement, and enforce changes to data-management standard operating procedures, including general database procedures, database development, and business analysis
- Enforce established data-structure rules on new development
- Act as a "gatekeeper" for all databases by controlling organization-wide access-level permissions to databases and work with the IT Department to ensure database security and integrity
- Develop, monitor, and maintain regular data synchronizations between systems and other primary databases, such as the donor database
- Perform data extractions for data users in a variety of departments
- Establish and oversee data-hygiene routines using both proactive and reactive measures, including updating user subscriptions, as needed
- Design and conduct periodic database-use training for staff members
- Document database trouble issues and change requests
- Oversee periodic database cleanups
- Run, review, and analyze reports for data users to ensure maximization of available data, including but not limited to the following:
- Analysis of e-mail series and recommendations for adjustments
- Weekly subscription reports
- Analysis of groups, subscriptions, and source codes for PETA's Get Active membership
- Design and implement reports, both regular and individual, to meet user needs
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent experience
- Experience using Microsoft SQL 2005 Analysis and Reporting Tools required
- Two or more years of experience with database administration and support
- Two or more years of experience with queries and data manipulation for reporting purposes
- Experience using data inside the Microsoft Office 2003/2007 Suite
- Experience with software documentation and technical writing preferred
- Experience working with data for fundraising and constituency building for a nonprofit organization
- Exceptional communication skills, including communicating and working effectively with individuals of all levels of skill and expertise in a variety of departments
- Excellent problem-solving and solution-implementation skills
