The PETA Foundation's Development Department: Fueling the Engine That Drives PETA's Success

Development

The Development Department raises the funds that make PETA's programs so successful in fighting animal abuse.

It takes significant resources to run campaigns that take on huge corporate abusers of animals, such as KFC, Ringling Brothers, and laboratories where millions of individual animals are used in experiments every year. PETA's ability to conduct undercover cruelty investigations, create and market Web sites that reach millions of people each year, run our spay-and-neuter clinics, organize hundreds of demonstrations, and even pay for everyday expenses such as phones and electricity are all a direct result of the work of the Foundation's Development Department.

Development staff members use every tool in the fundraiser's kit to help animals—and they make it easy and efficient for members to support PETA's work. Those fundraising programs include direct mail, a monthly pledge program, special programs and perks for major and planned-giving donors, and events big and small—no to mention grants, telemarketing, workplace giving, stock donations, gift memberships, memorial gifts, online giving, donations of vehicles and property, and co-branded products and services, including a PETA credit card, a bank check, and even cruelty-free coffee.

In the 2008 fiscal year, the Foundation's Development Department raised more than $31 million to fund the work of PETA's campaigners, investigators, researchers, scientists, educators, cruelty caseworkers, and veterinary staffers.

As PETA's membership and support continue to grow, so does our ability to make positive changes for animals. The dynamic and effective PETA Foundation Development Department is looking for bright and motivated professionals for a variety of positions.
